Ayurveda – The Science of Wellness

Reading time- 4 minutes

The word ‘Ayur’ means life and ‘Veda’ means knowledge. Together they form ‘Ayurveda’, a Sanskrit term, which signifies the knowledge of life or to be more precise, the science of making life long, healthy, and disease-free. Ayurveda is one of the oldest medical sciences that emerged in India around 3000 years ago, providing complete healthcare for mental and physical wellness. The therapeutic application of Ayurveda involves the use of organic substances in its medicines such as natural oils, herbs, and other substances devoid of any chemicals or artificial ingredients.

Ayurveda is based on the core idea that an equilibrium exists between a person’s mind, body, and soul which is interconnected with the environment. This equilibrium keeps one healthy and disease-free. But when it is disrupted owing to external stimuli and factors such as stress or faulty lifestyle it leads to the inception of disease inside the human body. Ayurvedic therapy helps retain this equilibrium through lifestyle corrections and natural treatment procedures.

Ayurveda is a gradual but deep healing process therefore the treatment can be prolonged especially when the disease has advanced as a result of negligence or ignorance. The most important elements of Ayurvedic treatment include a customized diet plan, medicines made with herbal ingredients, and massage therapy with natural oils for problems like body aches as in the case of joint pains in Arthritis. But the two most intrinsic components of Ayurveda are Yoga and meditation. As Ayurveda is all about maintaining the perfect balance between mind, body, and soul, Yoga and meditation can actually help in not only sustaining that balance but also keeping some very basic lifestyle diseases at bay. Both Yoga and meditation are highly recommended daily routine tips, especially considering the way we are leading our lives today. It is also recommended that both these exercises should be practiced in a very calm and relaxed mental and physical state. In order to attain this, it is important that the surrounding environment too should be hygienic, comfortable, and pleasant.

For instance, a low-smoke, fragrant and organic agarbatti or dhoop stick can help create a perfect atmosphere to relax and calm the mental and physical senses while one practices meditation or Yoga. A fragrant incense stick with natural and herbal ingredients is known for cleansing the atmosphere of foul smell and negativity which is why always select products that are devoid of any artificial fragrances and chemicals to create an environment of supreme positivity.Prabhu Shriram- India’s Best Agarbatti and Dhoop includes products that are 100% charcoal and chemical free to relax your mind and relieve the feeling of anxiety and stress. The fragrance creates a divine aura and spreads positive energy which makes meditation, Yoga, or any other activity that requires mental and physical focus, much more beneficial and result-oriented. Besides other therapeutic and healing processes, Yoga and meditation complement Ayurveda as the true science of wellness in one’s life.
